I came upon your website after doing a search for "Book of Concord." I am glad I fell upon this site. Keep up the good work of challenging the church to look at itself over and over again as church, and one that belongs to the Lord not to the culture in which we find the church so deeply immersed.

I just had a look at your page. I am glad that you publish these papers. Living in Luthers's land, where the protestant churches do no longer care for Luther's doctrine, and Hermann Sasse already 50 years ago declared the death of the Lutheran Church in Germany, it is comforting to see that the Lutheran Church and Lutheran theology are still alive. I hope that the internet can help to breach the distance between the States and Germany and intensify the contact between confessional Lutherans at both sides of the Atlantic Ocean. I am pleased to see some names I know and to encounter some new ones. As to the question of where we draw the line, I propose we follow Luther -- speak boldly, clearly, and in very plain language until they hear the truth or kick you out. Confessions cannot be made timidly. "The LORD said to me [Jeremiah], 'Do not be afraid of them, for I am with you and will rescue you.' Then the Lord reached out His hand and touched my mouth and said to me, 'Now, I have put my words in your mouth.'" (Jer. 1:8-9)

I have written an article, "Where Has My Church Gone", which outlines the many trials my husband and I have had in LC-MS congregations over the past 15 years. Christian News printed an abbreviated version and the entire article was sent to delegates to the 1998 Synodical convention.. If anyone is interested in obtaining a copy of the article in its entirety, please contact me by email at silks@igg-tx.net and I will be glad to send you one free of charge. Thank God for people who are willing to stand up for the truth of scripture. Thank God for our many pastors who love God and us enough to hold to that truth.

Good to see many of my classmates accessing this site. I think that John saw the united list when the seven seals were broken. As a candidate to our upcoming convention, I eagerly read Laurence White's booklet. I recommend it to everyone. Spoke with Dr. Wenthe this past weekend (little sister married his son, Matt), and he agrees that it's time to disband the CTCR and return this God-pleasing work to the seminary faculties. Vote for Jack Baumgarn for Ft. Wayne seminary Regents (floor nomination). God's Word will not return void.

Dear God give us strength to fight the battle. Some of us here in Jackson were forced to start a new Confessinal Lutheran Church because of Michigan District's Church Growth push. I am so very sad about that. We were forced to form a new church. Faith Lutheran Church as we have named our new congregation is very confessional, orthodox, LUTHERAN Church. God has bestowed many blessings on us in our young life as a congregation. God's Blessings on the continued growth back to the Confessional Lutheran Churches everywhere.

I enjoy all the imformation. Is anyone aware of an unconfessional Lutheran website as I would like to hear what the other side has to say. I would even settle for a quatenus subscription website. Even an ambivolent Lutheran site would be good. The fact that this site is necesarry is a sad commentary on our church. It would be a sad commentary even if we were only a denomination.

...I felt I had to write to you and urge you to contend for the faith that was once for all entrusted to the saints. (Jude 3) Praise God! As I read the guestbook, eyes watered, and goosebumps rose, as I realized I am not alone. There are confessional Lutherans in Florida. God has called 3 confessional young couples from our "Young Families" study group, placed them in Florida and Georgia where they remain, fighting the good fight entrusted them. There is so much Hope! Thank God for all His faithfull servants. Thank Him for this site. Please God, honor your faithfull's efforts as we fight the ravages of Church Growth and its damning lies. Every one of you HAS TO ORDER Reclaiming the Gospel in the LCMS by J.M. Cascione. To God be the Praise and Glory in His risen son Jesus Christ, our lord and Saviour.

Our denomination (Lutheran Ministerium & Synod -USA) at its June 1998 convention in Indianapolis just adopted a statement affirming the entire Book of Concord in a "quia" sense. If you're interested in a truly confessional organization without the "legalism", please check us out.

I saw the story of this web site in CN. My parents left LCMS in the early 60s because of false doctrine. My dad and many others maintain that the last orthodox statement from LCMS was the Brief Statement of 32. Which of course was a long time ago. I'm rather curious as to where "Confessional Lutherans" draw their line in the sand. Or do they even have a line? It seems to me that those who desire to be faithful to Gods Word need to mark and avoid the false doctrine in LCMS. Remember that the Lord said "where two or three are gathered in my name,,," Too many people are misled by numbers. I hope and pray that true Lutherans leave LCMS before it totally goes the way of ELCA.

I am still LCMS although my husband and I have to drive 32 miles one way in order to worship in a confessional LCMS congregation. I do not know what we will do if this congregation ever goes "liberal"; after all, we have gone through three liberal pastors and two other congregations and have been on our "truth flight" for over 14 years. Thank God for our present congregation and pastor. May God bless the LCMS and hold her close to the truth. God bless your efforts, also, for providing this forum for those of us who care about our adorable LCMS. In Christ's service and abundant love.

The LCMS, per se, no longer exists as a confessional Lutheran church body, because the majority of its' congregations and pastors are heterodox. Therefore it is Lutheran in name but Methodist in practice. Or am I wrong?

Fenton, Mi USA Tuesday, May 05, 1998 at 17:00:53 (EDT)

Our congregation has been put in the position of "arbitrate" and compromise scripture and the confessions due to a long history of "power mongering" at the church by members who have lost all sight of what Christianity is much less their Lutheran heritage and doctrines. It is a comfort to know that there are still confessional Lutherans out there who are willing to support one another in faithfulness to the scriptures. Please pray for us as we make decisions that should never have had to have been made. Pray also for our pastor who is strong in the faith but physically and emotionally drained from the extensive battles being fought against those who would rather demonize what they don't understand and believe than admit guilt for their sins and come to repentance.

God's blessings on this endeavor. It's unfortunate that our opponents are beginning to use (read "hide behind") the term confessional now too. In fact, it's too bad thatthe term Lutheran is in need of adding the word. But that's been the legacy eversince the Prussian Union began. And now as long as those "in America" who continueto (ab)use the name Lutheran, the need is greater than ever to be vocal, visible andclear.
