I commend to your visitors the book "Authority Vested : A Story of Identity and Change in the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod." It offers some excellant insights as to how the LCMS has become what it is today. If we can understand how we got to the present struggle, maybe we can begin to refocus on the Gospel so the Holy Spirit can draw us together and so fulfill our Savior's High Priestly prayer that we may all be one as Christ and the Father are one. If this is to happen we need to start talking about what unites us (Christ) instead of what divides us (sinful pride).

Glad to see what you are doing. Is it possible with such a network to begin an American Confessional Lutheran Church? Its time to leave these other bodies en masse. How I long for a confessional denomination, not just these "cyber churches". I want ot meet regularly with pastors of like mind, whose churches are committed to sound doctrine and practice. Thank you. Rev. D.C. Kavouras

I'm interested in learning about the doctrine of "sola Scriptura," in Latin, the doctrine of the Bible as the sole source of religious truth. What is involved in this idea? Please mention sources and any subordinate doctrines. For example, just to be specific, would spiritual experience be allowed as a source of divine teaching?

I just read the articles on what it takes to be a Christian. THANK YOU FOR POSTING IT! I spent about three years with Campus Crusade for Christ as a student at University of Houston. Frankly, sometimes I MISS the approach of cornering someone and badgering them into praying the "sinners' prayer," then taking credit for "leading someone to Christ." This article was SUCH an encouragement.

I am very pleased to find websites devoted to reinvigorating confessionalism within the Lutheran church as a whole, and the LCMS in particular. It is amazing how the proverbial "camel in the tent" approach of Evangelical/Charismatic Protestantism is taking such a foothold, especially as sanctioned by district and synodical officials. I agree with a pastor friend of mine that these churches should just take "Lutheran" out of their name to not hide from their misrepresentations that is confusing the laity. All thanks and praise to God.

I am a member of a confessional congregation in a sea of liberalism. I am concerned lke many people who have responded in the guestbook, however, I must say i see much strength in Missouri. As long as we stick together and remain faithful to the Gospel and Our Lord all will b e alright. Pray for our synodical president and the voncention in 2001. The liberals are mobilizing to steal the conventions. Be aware! Be alert! If we are not watching they will steal our church, synod and our confessions and the Bible will be left up to them to carve up like the liberrals in ELCA until it is unrecognizable any more.

At a time when confessional Lutheranism is under assault by the demonic forces of our culture, visiting your site always provides me with great encouragement. It's easy to grow discouraged at times in the struggle to remain faithful to the Scriptures and the Confessions. Your site reminds me of the importance of being faithful to the Word, speaking God's truth faithfully and clearly, and then leaving the results to the Lord of the Church. Programs don't build the Church; only the Gospel, purely preached and taught, does that. Thanks for the ever-present reminder of this truth.

I must be one of about only six people in the UK who have read Walther's masterpiece on 'Law and Grace'! I am a Reformed Calvinist, and rejoice in what I have read concerning the confessional Lutherans in the US. I confess with you that justificication is the key doctrine on which everything hinges. I look forward to hearing from you. We are in a fight to uphold the Gospel - not only from liberals butwell-meaning but abysmally ignorant evangelicals and charismatics.
