If Herod and Herodias went to John the Baptist confessing Christ, should John the Baptist have retracted his condemnation of the legal (Herod was King and his word Law) divorce and remarriage of Herodias? Or would this be only false repentance and should John have told Herodias to return to Herod's brother Phillip.

Phil Martin
Denomination: Concordia Lutheran Conference
Oak Forest , IL USA - Sunday, November 25, 2001 at 01:02:27 (CST)

Based on the selection of Sermons and Papers it is still very evident that the LCMS is a heterdox body, it was 50 years ago when according to Romans 16:17 our founding conference pastors formed the Concordia Lutheran Conference. Why was there not a major split in 1950 over the heterdox character of the Synod? Because the pastors and laymen in those days thought they could stay in and fight and bring the synod back to it's former orthodox position, instead they were "levened" with false doctrine and never did leave nor did they follow Rom 16:17. My question to all you LCMS pastors is how long will you "stay in and fight"? How long will you ignore Rom 16:17? How long will you ignore I Tim 5:22 ? - I do not make these comments in an arrogant tone but rather in a spirit of thanks to God for delivering our little conference from the heterodoxy of the Missouri Synod. My prayer is that you conservative pastors and laymen will see that after 50 years of heterodoxy the LCMS is not getting better but only worse and that you have the courage to follow Romans 16:17 and and avoid I Tim 5:22. If you can honestly look at I Cor 1:10 and say that the LCMS is in that position then stay in, otherwise why are you still there and how long will stay before you are "leavened" with misbelief? If you seek more information visit www.concordialutheranconf.com. - Phil Martin

There is an LCMS church in Galesburg, however we attend Holy Cross in Moline IL (Pastor John Laux) for many reasons which are very sad to us. However, we very much enjoy the confessional worship of Holy Cross and the confessional and Christian integrity of Pastor Laux. We've enjoyed reading the various literature on your site. Had never "signed in" before, just never took the time. Thank you so much for your continued fight for the truth and purity of our Lord.

I just happen to come accross your web site today and was delighted. Last Sunday I heard a sermon in which it was stated that Judes was at first called and saved and that he had lost his salvation. I could not believe what I had heard. I know that I, my wife, my youngest son Joseph, and our two daughters plus our sons-in-laws have been saved by faith in our Lord Jesus Christ and what He had done for us by his death and resuration. John 3:16. I know in my heart and my very spirit that I am the Lord's because He has stated in scripture that I cannot be snatched out of His hand. It is very disturbing when you hear a pastor make such a statment that suggest that you can lose your salvation. How do you best tactfully approach him on that issue without offending him? Sincerely yours in Christ Jesus: John

The information that you have provided, along with Concordia Catechetical Academy, has helped me in my pilgrimage towards Lutheran doctrine and practice. I thank you for helping me to see the richness of Luther's theology of the Cross and paradox. The Scholasticism of the Reformed tradition has often left me confused and hopeless but material like what I have been able to glean from your website is a source of great encouragement and comfort. Keep up the good work in promoting Confessional Lutheranism!

I think your articles are clear and convincing. I was hoping for one on the laity's part if proper in the divine service. If there are any elsewhere, please let me know. Also because of the background chosen for the site- it makes for hard reading of the articles.
