LUTHERANS HAVE SOMETHING TO SAY TO OTHER CHRISTIANS AND THE WHOLE WORLD. OUR BUSINESS IS TO GO AND PREACH THE CROSS OF CHRIST. IT IS HEARTWARMING TO KNOW THERE IS ANOTHER PLACE WHERE THIS IS UNDERSTOOD. Jim Whiting Denomination: PCA Meriden, Ct USA - Monday, October 21, 2002 at 11:38:51 (CDT) The more I read of Luther and those who followed, the more encouraged I become, and confident in Him who loved me and gave Himself for me. I hope the perspectives contained in the Lutheran confessions will not long be contained in obscure websights, but rather challenge all the churches to look again at the biblical texts, and adjust accordingly. Cheers! Jim Mark Schulte Denomination: LCMS Pascagoula, ms USA - Friday, October 11, 2002 at 13:01:43 (CDT) Great Site and Resource - LCMS Website should list it as a "Related Site". Pastor Mark A. Paul Denomination: Reformed Hyderabad, ap india - Wednesday, August 07, 2002 at 03:48:34 (CDT) Anybody out there feels cheated by God? Anyone who feels God took him for a ride? That God just used you and chucked you out like a piece of rag? Anyone out there who saw the light, forsook-all and followed Christ to preach His Word only to be dumped. Or am I the only one? I sure as hell would like to know! The Pagemaster Responded: You are not the only one. It is the cross we are called to bear for Christ, sometimes. Many faithful servants are savagely attacked and fired and all for merely being faithful. Only the unfaithful will not be so abused - and even some of them are. God has not forsaken you, however. It is the world that has forsaken you. It is the world that has attacked you. Jesus was also attacked. "A disciple is never greater than his Master." God did not dump you -- man did. God still wants to encourage you to stand faithful in His Word, and proclaim His grace. To expect that because you serve God, you will have it swell is unrealistic, contrary to the explicit teachings of the Bible, and what is called "a theology of glory". I would recommend a book by Eugene Veith called "Spirituality of the Cross". You can order it from Concordia Publishing House in St. Louis, MO. I believe you will find it helpful, and very refreshing. May the Lord bless you, guide you, and open your eyes to His blessings, so that this present pain (and I do not doubt the seriousness of it) will only work to bring you closer to Him. Sandy Denomination: LCMS Florida USA - Sunday, August 04, 2002 at 20:14:41 (CDT) A great storm is brewing in LCMS, led by church led by those who would discard the confessional basis of our faith.Soon it will be time to place our backs against the door of Wittenburg church door and refuse to allow them to tear down our great Doctors theses. . Mark Raymond Denomination: LCMS Fayetteville, AR USA - Thursday, August 01, 2002 at 15:07:24 (CDT) As a (hopefully) pre-seminary student, I fear for the future of Lutheranism in America. John R. Frerking Denomination: LCMS Kansas City, MO USA - Saturday, July 13, 2002 at 08:01:08 (CDT) Thank you for the efforts devoted to this site. I appreciated reading Pr. Preus' article "When is Enough Enough" as this topic is a frequent discussion within my immediate family, most of whom have left LCMS-affiliated churches due to the disconnect between confession and practice. I would appreciate any additional material regarding a related topic...the practical application of "confession through affiliation" in today's LCMS. May God bless your work. Ken Howes Denomination: LCMS Holyoke, MA USA - Friday, June 28, 2002 at 11:03:47 (CDT) Wonderful site. One note: The article on the blowup at St. Louis, excellent in almost all respects, says that "urteilen" is not as strong as "richten". That is not the distinction of the two words. "Richten" is what one does in reaching a verdict, the determination of facts. "Urteilen" is what one does in setting the sentence, the consequences of the determination.
