You are not the only one. It is the cross we are called to bear for Christ, sometimes. Many faithful servants are savagely attacked and fired and all for merely being faithful. Only the unfaithful will not be so abused - and even some of them are.

God has not forsaken you, however. It is the world that has forsaken you. It is the world that has attacked you. Jesus was also attacked. "A disciple is never greater than his Master." God did not dump you -- man did. God still wants to encourage you to stand faithful in His Word, and proclaim His grace. To expect that because you serve God, you will have it swell is unrealistic, contrary to the explicit teachings of the Bible, and what is called "a theology of glory".

I would recommend a book by Eugene Veith called "Spirituality of the Cross". You can order it from Concordia Publishing House in St. Louis, MO. I believe you will find it helpful, and very refreshing.

May the Lord bless you, guide you, and open your eyes to His blessings, so that this present pain (and I do not doubt the seriousness of it) will only work to bring you closer to Him.

A great storm is brewing in LCMS, led by church led by those who would discard the confessional basis of our faith.Soon it will be time to place our backs against the door of Wittenburg church door and refuse to allow them to tear down our great Doctors theses. .

As a (hopefully) pre-seminary student, I fear for the future of Lutheranism in America. Liberal theology and the Church Growth Movement are making deep and devastating inroads into Orthodox Lutheranism. I thank the creators of this site for providing a place where people can discover the pure teachings of Evangelical Christianity.

Wonderful site. One note: The article on the blowup at St. Louis, excellent in almost all respects, says that "urteilen" is not as strong as "richten". That is not the distinction of the two words. "Richten" is what one does in reaching a verdict, the determination of facts. "Urteilen" is what one does in setting the sentence, the consequences of the determination.
